Hello friends! I don’t know if I blogged about this but I had a girlfriend of mine from Texas come visit me all last week so that kept me from blogging. It was so nice to have a little bit of home here in New York. Now that she’s back in Texas though I can start to focus all my attention on my upcoming Disney trip and 5k race, but first, here are a few news stories from the Disney Universe:
- I’m probably the last person to blog about this but the new Be Our Guest Restaurant that is opening in the Magic Kingdom will serve alcohol at dinner. Why is this a big news story? Well, a lot of people in the Disney online community are upset over this since Walt Disney originally intended Magic Kingdom to be a “dry” theme park. You can read about the news here and let me know what you think in the comments below. Me personally, I don’t mind people enjoying a nice glass or wine or beer with their meal. I don’t think this new policy will suddenly mean there are tons of bumbling drunk people in the parks. *shrug*. That’s just my 2 cents!
- If you are a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) member you probably already know this, but there are some new perks coming your way! DVC members can now take advantage of a new 10% discount beginning October 1, 2012, at Disney owned merchandise locations throughout Disney World, Disneyland, and all Disney resorts. That’s a sweet little perk but here’s a bigger one: From October 1, 2012 – December 31, 2012 DVC members can purchase a Walt Disney World premium annual pass for $399! DVC members usually pay $559 so that’s a substantial savings! I’m wishing I was a DVC member right about now!
- This last news story I am extremely excited about. Apparently Pixar studios is working on a new about Dios De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, the Mexican holiday celebrating death and those loved ones that have passed away. It will be exciting to see how this “fleshes out” (pun intended) and what the final film looks like, characters involved, and just the story itself. Being half Mexican, I also love that they are bringing some Mexican culture and characters to the animation world. I will be keeping my eyes and ears open for more news on this! Here is a great article you can read about it.
Ok, now let’s talk about me!
In a week from now I’ll be doing final preparations for my trip to Disney World… finishing up packing, getting all my paperwork together, making sure everything is ready at home for my husband since he will be watching our 20 month old son alone for *gulp* 4 days. You can bet I will be calling home frequently to make sure they are both doing okay.
So about 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor because I was having back pain. She thought it was just a muscular thing and nothing too serious but took x-rays anyway. The x-rays came back fine and she gave me a prescription for some pain relievers. Miraculously, my back has been a lot better since then but now my left heel is giving me issues. Last Thursday I went for a run and noticed that evening that my left heel was quite tender. I stayed off it and skipped running for almost a week! (bad, I know!). Last night I went for my first run in a week at the gym on the treadmill and kicked butt, running almost 4 miles in 55 minutes. I felt on top of the world and ready for the 5k…. until I woke up this morning and stepped on my left heel! It’s totally tender again today and sore. I’m wondering if I should not run anymore until the day of my 5k but that just seems crazy. I’ll probably try to do one more run this weekend and maybe one early next week, if my heel will let me, then give myself at least 3 days off before the race. Wish me luck!
One last thing before I close this entry out… check out my nails I got done for my Disney trip! I never wear fake nails but decided to get some done for this special occasion. It definitely makes it a lot harder to type! As always, thanks for reading!!
