All the new technology, LinkedIn, Cover Letters, Resumes… can feel overwhelming. But never fear!!  Miss Marci is here to show you the way!\n\n\n\nAfter my life fell apart, I had to completely re-invent myself from scratch. I was 50 years old and had been a stay-at-home Mom for nearly 20 years. My previous work experience was belly dancer, burlesque dancer, and circus acrobat, leaving me qualified for basically nothing, except teaching dance which would not give me the income I needed to support my children. I created a resume, spent hours and hours every single day filling out applications, writing cover letters, and sending resumes, and I never got called for an interview. Not once. \n\n\n\nI understood I was 50 with no recent work experience, but I did have degrees and a strong work ethic, so how in the world could I not even get an interview? I started approaching everyone I knew who had a successful career and asking them for tips. My friend in Palo Alto, who always seems to get jobs, got her dream job at Stanford, and I asked her to share her cover letter with me so I could see what got her foot in the door. She explained to me about the importance of key words in a cover letter, or HR won’t even see your resume. But that’s not enough either. Her letter had many elements in it that turned on a lightbulb for me. \n\n\n\nShe wrote about two words, two words that changed everything for me: Growth Mindset. As soon as I incorporated Growth Mindset into my life, my resume, my cover letters, added in buzz words, etc. I got two excellent jobs within 3 days. 3 DAYS! I had been hitting a wall for two years, and suddenly the floodgates opened.\n\n\n\nBOSS!
