Marci’s public speaking events and book events are so unique, some might say she’s paving new paths where there were none!

Her events usually include: feathers and dancing girls, cookies as art, New Orleans jazz, cocktails from the books, glitter and bookmarks, storytelling and drama, and of course, books! Marci loves to meet her readers!

Martini Mystery Book Signing

When Marci wrote her first book, Martini Mystery, she wanted to make her book signings immersive and interactive, so she created them in unexpected venues like Alice and Olivia luxury shop, vintage shops, and she even signed books at a Speakeasy in Harlem with New Orleans band the High Society Orchestra.

She created each book signing as a theatrical literary event with aspects of the book coming to life:

New Orleans jazz music
Vintage Hollywood glamour
Dancers lounging about in feathered robes, reading the book
Vintage “Miss Kitty Cigarette Girls” selling her books off of their trays (instead of cigarettes) so people didn’t have to wait in long lines.

She dressed like her character to sign books and meet readers. The venues served champagne and cocktails from the book (each chapter begins with a cocktail), and gave out cookies in the shape of martinis.

She collaborated with the shops to donate a portion of the money raised to various charities, raising money for:

Bette Midler’s Foundation (Theater Renovation in NYC Schools)
Boston Children’s Literary Foundations
Plummer Home for Foster Youth
Etc.

The Champagne Scandal: The Spirits are Calling Book Signing

During Covid, she released Book 2 in her Martini Mystery series: The Champagne Scandal: The Spirits are Calling.

Undaunted by the pandemic shutdown, and the inability to have book events in person, Miss Marci hosted readings on Insta Live every Thursday night from her pink closet.

She read some of her book, then hired burlesque dancers to perform from all over the world, from Amsterdam to New Orleans. The Champagne Scandal is about the theft of rare and irreplaceable vintage burlesque costumes, vintage fashion, and Old Hollywood style is an integral part of the story. Connecting to these aspects in conjunction with the book, she interviewed legendary vintage fashion curators, vintage collectors, and celebrities. These Insta Live events turned out to be a big hit and sold books all over the world.

Santiago Canyon College in Orange, CA invited Marci Darling to come speak, sign books, and teach writing on May 26, 2022.

Divorce Diva Book Signing

For the book Divorce Diva, Marci Darling had a big splashy book event in New York City, with multiple billboards in Times Square and the book event at Alice and Olivia on Madison Avenue.

Divorce Diva reached #1 on Amazon.

In March of 2022, Marci Darling signed books at Alice and Olivia in Miami, spoke at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, and judged the Stella Shouting Contest at the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival in New Orleans.
