The Sweet Life: Being watered like a flower

There is nothing I love more than following Henry and Annabelle’s pace. I love letting the day unfold, no plans, nowhere we have to be… just moving in their sweet, simple, beautiful baby world.
Annabelle has been talking about truffles with George who is a truffle lover. (Truffles as in the things pigs in France dig up, not chocolate truffles!)
She came into the kitchen this morning and showed me the ruffles on her poodle underwear and said, “Mom, look at the pretty truffles on my undies.”
I love starting out the day laughing.
We had Family Night tonight and went to see the Great Pumpkin. On the way home, Annabelle said, “Dad, that pumpkin was actually human. He was wearing a costume.” Yes…
The highlight of most of our days consists of watering the plants on the balcony which are growing like crazy in the heat and humidity. Henry likes to run after me from plant to plant and put his hands under the falling water.
Yestserday, I watered the hanging angel ivy and Henry ran and stood under it, letting the drips land on his head. He’s just like my old black bunny, Bunnicula, who loved to sit under his water tube and let it drip on his head.
So today, I dripped a little water on Henry’s head, and next thing I know, he and Annabelle are screaming with delight and running under the falling water, reveling in being “watered” like the flowers.
Their world is so beautiful. I’m so honored to be able to be a part of it. When I see them wrestling and laughing hysterically and completely caught up in their baby world, I feel so completely and utterly happy.
I have found a wonderful blog by a woman named Eileen, the creator of Little Acorn Learning.
She has a nature-based childcare and writes a warm and wonderful curriculum for parents and early education teachers, available on her website.
It’s very similar to the curriculum I taught at Plum Hill on Martha’s Vineyard, a Waldorf-Inspired preschool, but even more creative and in-depth. I’m really excited to subscribe and use some of her ideas with my little monkeys. I want to keep their world as sweet and magical and protected as long as possible.

Marci Darling

I lie here on my pink puffy bed in my pink silky pajamas, or pink flannel depending on my mood (the only thing you can bank on is that there will be chocolate smeared somewhere on my attire), with my pink feathered pen, writing my most delicious daydreams. Funny? Sometimes. Scandalous? Hopefully. Inspiring? Perhaps. Full of love? Always. Welcome to my World.
