Faulkner’s House Bookstore in Pirate’s Alley

Faulkner House—Joe LaSalle, the adorable proprietor who lives in the house, is a professor of English (of course) and runs the Words and Music Fest. The tiny bookstore carries a wide variety of fabulous books, the collection of walking canes is very romantic, and when asked about the ghost of William Faulkner, Mr. LaSalle says he occasionally smells pipe smoke wafting in the air (Faulkner smoked pipes!).
Horse and Carriage Rides—yes they are pulled by mules instead of gorgeous high-stepping horses, (Horses couldn’t put up with this heat!) but the carriages are decked out with flowers and velvet and the drivers will drive ou in silence or give you a historical tour. I’ve seen bridal parties take them all the way to the Garden District! Tres glam!

Picture of Marci Darling

Marci Darling

I lie here on my pink puffy bed in my pink silky pajamas, or pink flannel depending on my mood (the only thing you can bank on is that there will be chocolate smeared somewhere on my attire), with my pink feathered pen, writing my most delicious daydreams. Funny? Sometimes. Scandalous? Hopefully. Inspiring? Perhaps. Full of love? Always. Welcome to my World.
