I lie here on my pink puffy bed in my pink silky pajamas, or pink flannel depending on my mood (the only thing you can bank on is that there will be chocolate smeared somewhere on my attire), with my pink feathered pen, writing my most delicious daydreams. Funny? Sometimes. Scandalous? Hopefully. Inspiring? Perhaps. Full of love? Always.
Welcome to my World.

Leslie Zemeckis: Glamour Girl Proust Questionnaire
Glamour Girl Leslie Zemeckis, accomplished writer and documentarian, has just finished a book called Goddess of Love Incarnate, the Life of Stripteuse Lili St. Cyr. With a spectacular personal style, Leslie caught my eye when I saw photos of her posted by my friend, Cameron Silver. They were gallivanting around Naples at the stunning Dolce and Gabbana show this summer. I was thrilled when I learned she was a brilliant artist and literary lion illuminating important history otherwise forgotten. Burlesque…
“The Smartest Kids in the World and How They Got That Way”
I was fascinated by the review of this book in the New York Times Book Review a couple of weeks ago. The book is called The Smartest Kids in the World and How They Got That Way, and was written by Amanda Ripley. In the field of early education, we often hear about education in Finland, how they have the highest literacy rate in the world, how they don’t start teaching their kids to read until the age of 7,…
Chez Josephine NYC and One of the Greatest Nights of my Life
Walking through the front door was like entering another world. Red velvet drapes trimmed with golden tassels, brick walls covered with images of Josephine Baker at the height of her dancing, the kind of warm lighting that makes even the most weary of us look beautiful… Josephine peers out from every wall, bananas on her hips, feathers arching above her, body joyfully moving, her pet cheetah with a diamond collar walking beside her, a smile promising mischief… Chez Josephine is everything I love about the 1920’s, divine decadence, giddy and glamorous, an invitation to leave your cares outside and surrender to this one gorgeous moment.

Books, God, Fireflies
We went to Maple Street bookstore tonight and their new motto is “Love Among the Ruins,” a fitting motto for anyone living in New Orleans at this time. It’s a little local bookstore, a booklovers paradise, exactly what you’d imagine if you thought of a dusty old bookshop from a mystery novel or a curiosity shop. Dirty, tattered, charming, and filled with books! I just finished reading The Moviegoer by Walker Percy, who also wrote Love Among the Ruins. Apparently…
Lighthouses: Keepers of the Flame
They’re just little bearded guys, but they are the keepers of the flame. They remind me that no matter how dark and treacherous a storm may seem, no matter how thick the fog of grief around me, when I don’t know which way to turn, I just need to keep my eyes open, watching for the light that will guide me home.
