How Did I Dance with Paul McCartney?

Sometimes people ask me how I landed in certain situations, one of which was dancing with Paul McCartney. I danced with him a few times, but in this particular show in Boston…

I was getting my Masters degree at Harvard when my fairy goddaughter, Bonnie called to tell me she was coming to Boston on tour with Sir Paul. I’ve known Bonnie since she was 11 years old and we performed as fairies in Midsummer Night’s Dream together. She is from a magical circus family.

Her dad called to see if I wanted to go see Bonnie perform as a contortionist in the show. When I asked the price of the tickets and he said $100, I said no thank you! I’ll see her before and after the show, but as a student, there was no way I could pay that much for a ticket. She called me back an hour later and asked if I wanted to make some $$ and perform in the show. Now you’re talking! I got to say my favorite word: YES!!!

I had danced with Paul before in LA, but this time, I ended up running around the Fleet Center in a Pierrot the Clown costume carrying a balloon bigger than my car, then changing into a princess costume and dancing onstage. Once Sir Paul entered, I sat on the side of the stage, completely caught up in the spell of his music. It was a surreal moment to sit ten feet from a Beatle while he played his guitar and sang Hey Jude to 20,000 people…

It was a magical night I will never forget…

Marci Darling

I lie here on my pink puffy bed in my pink silky pajamas, or pink flannel depending on my mood (the only thing you can bank on is that there will be chocolate smeared somewhere on my attire), with my pink feathered pen, writing my most delicious daydreams. Funny? Sometimes. Scandalous? Hopefully. Inspiring? Perhaps. Full of love? Always. Welcome to my World.
