Stella Restaurant in the Quarter

Stella is arguably the best restaurant in New Orleans (and that’s saying something!). Stella is fancy and super fabulous with that attention to detail that takes it a step ahead of all others. Peanut allergy? They’ll note it in their computer so every time you reserve a table, they know what you can’t eat! The sommelier, John, is the best we’ve ever had. So affable, knowledgeable, and lovely–it’s worth it to go just to meet him. Stella is on Chartres Street right in front of the Pontchartrain hotel. It’s elegant, the type of place that will switch napkin colors to match your outfit and serve all your plates at the same time, lifting off the silver domes with a voila! The sommelier is adorable and knowledgeable, the food is delicious, the presentation is stunning, the vodka and caviar list—legendary. When George ordered the vodka and caviar, it came in a gorgeous presentation–smoking! (Dry ice) This is the place where Nicolas Cage got drunk on a $6,000 bottle of wine and broke the massive front window! How scandalous! Stella handled it in-house—no police report here. Tasteful and elegant as usual, even if their celebrity customers aren’t always so!

For sheer pomp and glamour, you can’t beat this stunning cathedral. Standing sentry over the French Quarter for hundreds of years, this is one building I really wish could talk! It’s beautiful, and I saw Ellis Marsalis perform a Christmas concert there a while back. (We left when my 2-year-old started splashing in the holy water.) The…

Horse and Carriage Rides—yes they are pulled by mules instead of gorgeous high-stepping…
